Making its return to Gamers for Giving, our 2011 event will feature a 100 person console gaming LAN party. What is a LAN party you ask? Imagine sitting down with 100 other gamers in the same room, connecting your gaming console to a ‘local area network’ and playing video games with fellow players you can interact with for an entire day! That’s pretty much the gist of it. LAN parties offer gamers the opportunity to compete and play games with one another in a social environment.
The LAN party is ’BYOC’ – which means you’ll need to ‘bring your own console’ and TV to the event, as well as the games you’d like to play. We’ve created a packet with additional information, as well as a handy check-list you can use to ensure you don’t forget anything! You can download additional information here (PDF File). Also, if you are under the age of 17, you will need to bring a signed Parental Consent Form.
Additionally, we’ll be coordinating various activities throughout the day in the LAN party. You can discuss what games you’ll be bringing, as well as some of our mini tournaments in the Gamers Outreach Forums. Once you’ve signed up for the LAN, you can visit the “Seating Chart” forum thread to select a seat.
